Pilots were sent from New Zealand to learn to fly me. They had met my sort before – jets. Vampires and Canberras are not in my league7 of speed and performance8. I fly at more than Mach 1, that is, faster than the speed of sound. I break the sound barrier9. My pilots need special G-suits to hold their bodies together and to stop them blacking out10 when I “pull G”11 in sharp turns and pull-ups. Pilots have a lot to learn about my sophistication12. I’m not just any aircraft – I’m one with a mission.
